Meditative absorption is not static; it evolves through subtle adjustments in stability and clarity.

1. From Coarse to Subtle

Early awareness is rough.
Refinement comes with depth.
This unfolds naturally.

2. From Effort to Ease

Initial maintenance requires effort.
Later stability becomes effortless.
This signals maturity.

3. From Joy to Equanimity

Joy stabilizes into balance.
No pursuit of sensation.
Equanimity deepens.

4. From Point to Field

Single-point focus expands.
Awareness becomes holistic.
Stability strengthens.

5. From Calm to Clarity

Calm without clarity leads to dullness.
Clear calm is balanced.
Ongoing awareness is required.

6. From States to Non-Abiding

No fixation on levels.
No identity built on states.
Otherwise stagnation occurs.

7. From Sitting to Activity

Stability during movement tests maturity.
Without it, depth is limited.

8. From State to Quality

No division between in and out of absorption.
Stability becomes a mental quality.
Transition completes.
