Sitting Meditation
Signs of the Meridian System Becoming Unblocked
Through sustained meditation and breath regulation, body and mind gradually relax, and circulation becomes smoother. The unblocking of the meridian system is not mystical but reflects a shift from stagnation to flow. Without understanding, certain sensations may be misinterpreted; with attachment, they may become new obstacles. The essence of practice lies in steady awareness, allowing physical changes to unfold naturally.
1. Changes in Surface Sensations
1.Increased warmth and flow
Warmth or gentle expansion in hands, feet, back, or abdomen may indicate improved circulation and energy flow. This warmth is soft and steady rather than sharp or burning.
2.Temporary tingling or pulsation
Brief numbness, tingling, or rhythmic pulsing may occur as previously stagnant areas become activated. With stable awareness, these sensations tend to subside naturally.
3.Spontaneous subtle movements
Light swaying or micro-adjustments can arise as muscles and nerves release tension. These are normal relaxation responses.
4.Smoother breathing
Breath becomes deeper and more fluid, expanding beyond the chest into the abdomen.
2. Signs of Internal Energy Adjustment
1.Warmth and fullness in the lower abdomen
A stable warmth suggests grounded breathing and strengthening of core stability.
2.Enhanced spinal openness
Tension along the back eases, and posture feels naturally upright and supported.
3.Lightness in the head and face
Reduced pressure around the forehead and eyes reflects mental relaxation.
4.Greater bodily coordination
Different parts of the body feel integrated rather than strained or disconnected.
3. Emotional and Psychological Transformation
1.Reduced emotional fluctuation
Irritability or anxiety gradually soften, replaced by steadiness.
2.Improved concentration
Attention remains more stable and less easily distracted.
3.Deepened inner calm
A sense of grounded peace arises without external dependence.
4.Finer awareness
Subtle bodily and emotional changes are noticed without attachment.
4. Improvements in Sleep and Rhythm
1.Easier sleep onset
The nervous system relaxes more readily.
2.Better sleep quality
Fewer awakenings and more refreshed mornings.
3.Improved digestion
Reduced discomfort and more stable appetite.
4.Balanced energy levels
Daytime vitality becomes steadier.
5. Discernment and Balance
1.Avoid attachment to sensations
Warmth or tingling are transitional signs, not goals.
2.Maintain natural pacing
Allow gradual development through consistent practice.
3.Monitor unusual discomfort
Persistent pain or strong reactions require rest or guidance.
4.Keep awareness central
True value lies in coordinated body–mind harmony and clarity.
Conclusion
Signs of meridian unblocking manifest as integrated physical, energetic, and psychological balance. Understanding their natural progression prevents attachment and supports steady, grounded practice.
