专意思惟得见道迹
从前，在一座佛寺中有一口金锅，是用来烹调饮食，以供给僧众。当时有一个人进入佛寺中，见到这口金锅，想要盗取，但苦于找不到机会，于是便乔装成沙门，被上僧服，混入僧团中。
后来，听闻上座比丘讲经，阐述种种罪福业缘、生死轮回之理，及因果报应如影随形、如响应声的事例，盗人恍然大悟，深感惭愧忏悔，专心一意思惟义理，因此得见道迹。思量整个事件的缘起，就是因为那口金锅，成就了自己听经闻法因而见道的因缘，便特意去礼拜金锅以表感恩，再将事情的原委告诉众僧。
每个人修行学佛的因缘各不同，但只要心念专一，没有不证悟真理的。

Single-minded contemplation leads to seeing the traces of the Path
Once, in a Buddhist monastery, there was a golden pot used for preparing food to provide meals for the monastic community. At that time, a man entered the monastery and, upon seeing the golden pot, intended to steal it. However, finding no opportunity to do so, he disguised himself as a śramaṇa, put on monastic robes, and slipped into the Sangha.
Later, he heard a senior bhikṣu expounding the Dharma, explaining the various karmic causes and conditions of sin and merit, the principles of birth and death within saṃsāra, and examples showing how karmic retribution follows one like a shadow and answers like an echo. The thief suddenly awoke to understanding, was filled with deep shame, repentance, and remorse, and devoted himself wholeheartedly to contemplating the meaning of the teachings. Through this, he came to see the traces of the Path.
Reflecting on the origin of the whole event, he realized that it was precisely because of that golden pot that the conditions had arisen for him to hear the sutra teachings, listen to the Dharma, and thereby encounter the Path. He therefore went deliberately to bow before the golden pot in gratitude, and then told the monks the whole story from beginning to end.
The causes and conditions that lead each person to cultivate the path and learn the Buddha-Dharma are all different. Yet so long as one’s mind is single and focused, there is no one who will fail to realize the truth.
