Experiencing the Illusory Nature of Existence

Existence appears solid and continuous, yet it is a sequence of momentary experiences. The sense of “being” is constructed through memory and imagination. Practice does not deny existence, but directly experiences its instability and conditionality, releasing fixation on solidity.

1.Reexamining Existence

1.Existence is experience-based
Without experience, it cannot be found.

2.The sense of being fluctuates
It strengthens and weakens.

3.No fixed center exists
Nothing permanent can be located.

2. Why Cling to Real Existence?

1.Fear of groundlessness
Existence seems to confirm identity.

2.Memory creates continuity
Assembly mistaken for permanence.

3.Language reinforces solidity
Concepts imply fixed being.

3. How to Experience Its Illusion

1.Returning to direct sensation
Beyond conceptual understanding.

2.Observing fluctuation
Noticing shifts in beingness.

3.Failing to find a center
Directly experiencing non-substantiality.

4.Resting in awareness
Independent of existence sense.

4. Transformations Through Experience

1.Self-clinging weakens
Identity loses rigidity.

2.Fear decreases
No need for constant confirmation.

3.Life feels lighter
Less burdened by solidity.

4.Openness expands
Identity becomes flexible.

5. Freedom Within Illusion

1.Illusion does not negate life
It dissolves false fixation.

2.Experience becomes immediate
Conceptual filters loosen.

3.Freedom arises from non-grasping
Letting go brings ease.

Conclusion

When existence is experienced as illusory, fixation dissolves. Life is not lost—only false solidity falls away.
