Braised Tofu Cubes in Soy Sauce

Summary:

This is a comforting vegetarian dish where tofu cubes are gently braised in savory sauce, absorbing rich flavors with a soft and delicate texture.

Ingredients:

Firm tofu 300g (cut into cubes)
Light soy sauce 1.5 tbsp
Dark soy sauce 0.5 tbsp
Sugar 1 tsp
Salt to taste
White pepper powder to taste
Water 80 ml
Cooking oil 1 tbsp

Instructions:

1.Prepare ingredients:
Cut the tofu into evenly sized cubes and gently pat dry with kitchen paper.

2.Pan-fry tofu:
Heat oil in a pan over medium-low heat and pan-fry the tofu until lightly golden on both sides.

3.Add sauce:
Add light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, water, and a small amount of salt, gently turning to coat evenly.

4.Braise gently:
Lower the heat and braise for about 3 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the sauce.

5.Finish and serve:
Sprinkle in white pepper powder, reduce the sauce slightly, turn off the heat, and serve immediately.
